The Big Cat was a 4-time home run champion ( 1939 , 1940 , 1947 , 1948 ) and a 3-time RBI leader ( 1940 , 1942 , 1947 ), a batting title short of a Triple Crown in two different National League seasons. Mize did win a batting championship, in 1939 , but in 1940 he "only" hit .314 (2nd best / Top 25 ) and in 1942 he "only" hit .305 (4th best / Top 25 ).
