In April 2008, Murphy played in 27 games, batted .277 (28-101) with two home runs and fourteen RBI, scored fifteen runs, ended the month slugging .465, collected fourteen extra-base hits, including eleven doubles, compiled ten multi-hit performances, added eleven walks, posted a .342 on-base percentage and on April 26th against the Twins , Murphy drove home the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Rangers a 6-5 win, putting an end to their seven-game losing streak. That kind of month earns you a Rookie of the Month Award !
