Wil Myers Stats

Wil Myers was born on Monday, December 10, 1990, in Thomasville, North Carolina. Myers was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 18, 2013, with the Tampa Bay Rays. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Wil Myers baseball stats page.

"He (Wil Myers) hits the ball as far as anybody in baseball right now. To all fields. He hits for average, too. Good baserunner and he runs well, better than I thought, too. Defensively we've got to help him a little bit. I thought he showed signs of being at least a solid outfielder. I think with technique he'll develop. We'll work with him in Spring Training. Makeup wise, he definitely has a big league makeup. I talked a lot about him not being overwhelmed. He should be Rookie of the Year . There's no question in my mind. ... This guy is going to be a big part of our future." - Tampa Bay Rays Manager Joe Maddon (Bill Chastain, 09/23/2013, 'Myers named Sporting News' AL Rookie of the Year', Source )

Wil Myers made his Major League debut on June 18, 2013 , during the 70th game of the season for the Tampa Bay Rays , yet he led all American League (AL) rookies with 53 runs batted in (RBIs) during his 88 games played. The last junior circuit rookie to lead his league in RBIs with fewer than 90 games played was Hoot Evers , in 1946, when he had 33 RBI in 81 games.

Did you know that when Will Myers won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2013, he became the first hitter to receive the honor with fewer than 100 games played? Myers won 87% of the writer's votes, well ahead of Jose Iglesias (53%), Chris Archer (23%), Dan Straily (10%), J.B. Shuck (3%), Cody Allen (1%), Martin Perez (1%), and David Lough (1%).

Did you know that when Wil Myers, on August 17, 2017, stole second base, then third base, then home plate, during the same inning (4th), he became the first San Diego Padres player to steal for the cycle ? [ Stealing Second -> Stealing Third -> Stealing Home ]

On June 24, 2013 , Wil Myers hit a home run off Esmil Rogers in the second inning (the second home run in his career, the first was a grand slam on June 22, 2013 , in Yankee Stadium). It was Myers first at-bat at home (in Tropicana Field) and the homer was hit between blasts (back-to-back-to-back) hit by James Loney and Sam Fuld Rays hit three consecutive home runs during a home game.
