Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"Rougned Odor may well be one of the reasons the Rangers could afford to trade Ian Kinsler . Along with ( Jurickson ) Profar , Odor offers another solid infield option, though he profiles best as a second baseman. Odor has been in Texas ' system for parts of three seasons. He hit .306 in 2013, making steady improvement in challenging classifications each year. Odor's hitting ability comes with enough speed to steal bases. He has some home run power, and he can pop an occasional double. Complementing Odor's good offense is his ability to play very smooth middle-infield defense." - Columnist Bernie Pleskoff on MLB.com (03/26/2014, 'How do Rangers' prospects fit Texas' needs?', Source )

Did you know that Major League Baseball ranked the top ten prospects at second base across the entire Minor Leagues and Rougned Odor finished second?

2. Rougned Odor, Rangers : One of Texas ' burgeoning group of young middle infielders, Odor reached Double-A Frisco in 2013 as a 19-year-old. The Rangers have pushed him aggressively throughout his professional career, but he has always answered the challenge. Odor has a sound approach at the plate and has solid power. He is a capable defender with soft hands and a good arm.

Rougned Odor received a $50 million contract extension in 2017, then proved why he was worth it on Opening Day - slamming two home runs, in his first two at-bats of the season - just the seventh Texas Rangers player to hit two-or-more homers on Opening Day. Those who came before Odor; Buddy Bell (1982), Pete O'Brien (1988). Juan Gonzalez (1993), Dean Palmer (1993), Pudge Rodriguez (2000), and Gabe Kapler (2000).
