Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"I've always been someone that wants to play the game the right way. You play hard, but you don't play cheap. I've always lived that way, too. Some guys decide to take matters in their own hands." - Vicente Padilla on MLB.com (Evan Drellich, 07/07/2012, ' Tex on Padilla: The guy throws at people', Source )

Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, " Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history ." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown , A.J. Burnett , Bartolo Colon , Dan Haren , Tim Hudson , Randy Johnson , John Lackey , Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse , Derek Lowe , Jamie Moyer , Terry Mulholland , Vicente Padilla , Max Scherzer , Curt Schilling , Javier Vazquez , Woody Williams and Barry Zito .

When Vicente Padilla pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers

When Vicente Padilla made his big league debut ( June 29, 1999 ), he stepped onto the mound wearing #45 , the first Arizona Diamondbacks player to ever wear the number in a regular season game.

When Vicente Padilla made his big league debut ( box ), he became the seventh Nicaraguan major leaguer. Those who came before Padilla were Dennis Martinez (1976), Tony Chevez (1977), Albert Williams (1980), David Green (1981), Porfi Altamirano (1982) and Marvin Benard (1995).

When Vicente Padilla hung up his cleats in 2012, he had plunked 109 hitters over the course of his career. Less than one-hundred pitchers have ever hit more than one-hundred batters - see where he ranks in the Top 1,000 Hit by Pitch Career Leaders [Updated Daily].
