Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"#40 on the list of the all-time greatest Rangers is a Ranger original, a guy who came up during the time when Sandy Johnson had turned the farm system into one of the best in baseball. He was viewed as a guy with incredible power potential, a potential cleanup hitter for years who was coveted by numerous teams. While he didn't become a great player, he was a very solid major leaguer for a number of years, a guy who was a solid contributor before injuries ended his career. The fortieth greatest Ranger of all time is third baseman Dean Palmer." - SB National Columnist Adam J. Morris (12/11/2006, 'The 50 Greatest Rangers of All Time', Source )

On April 3, 2011 , Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz each hit a home run, becoming the first pair of teammates - on any team - to ever hit homers in each of their team's first three games of the season. The Texas Rangers duo made Major League history and each tied the franchise record for homering in most consecutive games from the start of the season, set originally by Frank Howard ( 1969 Washington Senators ) then tied by Dean Palmer ( 1992 Texas Rangers ).

Dean Palmer finished the 1999 season with a .263 batting average, the highest in the American League at third base , earning Deano a Silver Slugger Award - the first Detroit Tiger to earn a Silver Slugger at the hot corner.

Dean Palmer also won the Silver Slugger Award at third in 1998 , a Kansas City Royals player that season. His back-to-back Silver Slugger seasons were only the second instance in American League (AL) history, joining Wade Boggs , who out-hit all junior-circuit third baggers from 1986 through 1989, and 1993 through 1994. That pair has since been joined (in the AL, at third base) by Troy Glaus (2000-2001), Alex Rodriguez (2007-2008), Adrian Beltre (2010-2011), and Miguel Cabrera (2012-2013).

Did you know that Dean Palmer was the last Ranger to lead the American League in strikeouts ? In 1992 , Deano whiffed a league leading 154 times, tops in the majors as well. Those who came before Palmer, in Texas , were Pete Incaviglia ( 1986 & 1988 ) and Jeff Burroughs ( 1975 ).
