Did you know that only three pitchers in Major League history have won more than one-hundred games after turning forty and one of them is Jack Quinn (103 wins after turning 40)? The other two are Phil Niekro (121 wins after turning 40) and Jamie Moyer (105 wins after turning 40).

Jack Quinn | Phil Niekro | Jamie Moyer | Imaginary Topps Card (by Baseball Almanac)

Jack Quinn started Game 4 of the 1929 World Series , the oldest pitcher in baseball history to ever start a game during a Fall Classic . The following year, during Game 3 of the 1930 World Series , he was called in from the bullpen, becoming the oldest pitcher in baseball history to ever pitch a game during any Fall Classic .

Jack Quinn once held two additional age-related baseball records. He was once the oldest pitcher to ever win a game, since broken by Jamie Moyer , on April 17, 2012 (Quinn remains the oldest pitcher to appear in a game]. He was also once the older player to ever hit a home run, since broken (multiple times) by Julio Franco . [ Baseball Tenure and Baseball Age Related Records ]

Did you know that Jack Quinn was a spitball pitcher even after it was banned by Major League Baseball? Quinn was one-of-nine American League twirlers who were officially recognized and allowed to continue throwing a spitball for the remainder of their career - see list for details, its one we researched and added to Baseball Almanac in 1999!
