Did you know that on July 9, 2013 , Alex Rios had a career-high six-hits in a game and tied the American League record for hits in a game , became the 38th junior circuit player to accomplish the six hits in one 9-inning game feat , and the fifth from the Chicago White Sox ?

On August 8, 2013, Alex Rios was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers and was traded to them on August 9 for a player to be named later (it ended up being Leury Garcia ) or cash considerations. A little over a month later, on September 23, 2013 , Rios became the sixth Texas Rangers player to hit for the cycle joing Oddibe McDowell ( July 23, 1985 ), Mark Teixiera ( August 17, 2004 ), Gary Mathews, Jr. ( September 13, 2006 ), Ian Kinsler ( April 15, 2009 ) and Bengie Molina ( July 16, 2010 ).

The Major League record for strikeouts in a 9-inning game is five and its sometimes referred to as the platinum sombrero - Alex Rios is the only American League player in history to have two such games ( July 29, 2006 & June 4, 2009 ) in the Strikeout Records book.
