Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"When you get to play a long time with guys like George Brett and Paul Molitor and Robin Yount , those are a few (hitters who have have influenced his thinking) right there, but conversations with guys like Don Mattingly , Mark McGwire , Rod Carew Wade Boggs was another one, and Dave Winfield , I wanted to talk to power guys, I wanted to talk to high average guys, I just wanted to talk to guys who were really, really good, successful big-league hitters. Kirby Puckett , Kent Hrbek , Gary Gaetti , those were guys in our division, too, Harold Baines when you could get him to say (a few) words – those were great conversations." - Kevin Seitzer on Sportsnet Network (Shi Davidi, 10/31/2013, 'Seitzer to preach all-field approach with Jays', Source )

Did you know that Kevin Seitzer is only the twenty-fourth American League player in history to have six-hits in one 9-inning game ? On August 2, 1987 , the third baseman became the second Kansas City Royals player ( Bob Oliver , May 4, 1969 , was the first) in the "club" when he stroked two home runs, a double and three singles in a nine-inning blowout (13-5) versus the Boston Red Sox at Royals Stadium.
