Tyler Wayne Skaggs was a Major League Baseball player who pitched who played for the Arizona Diamondbacks (2012-2013) and Los Angeles Angels (2014, 2016-2019). Swaggy, his nickname, was drafted directly out of Santa Monica High School in 2009 , their fifth big league pitcher, joining Flame Delhi , Newt Kimball , Byron McLaughlin and Tim Leary .

Tyler Skaggs was signed by Angels scout Bobby Dejardin, in high school, where Swaggy played baseball, football and basketball. His mother, Debbie, was the softball and volleyball coach at the same school. Tyler's favorite NBA team was the Los Angeles Lakers and his favorite NFL team was the Minnesota Vikings.

Skaggs was found dead in his hotel room on July 1, 2019, in Southlake, Texas. The Angels were in the area to play a four-game series against the Texas Rangers; Skaggs was scheduled to pitch in the series' finale on July 4, his last game was pitched on days before his death, on June 29, 2019.
