Rick Sutcliffe won seventeen games in 1979 , the most by any pitcher on the Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff ( Stats ), sixth most in the National League ( Top 25 ) that season. The Red Baron also happened to be a rookie that year, won the Rookie of the Year Award , and became the first pitcher in a LOS ANGELES Dodgers uniform to win the baseball award . [Pitchers in Brooklyn who won ROY : Don Newcombe & Joe Black ]

After being traded to the Cubs , Sutcliffe continued making history, going 16-1 in Chicago , leading the National League in winning percentage , and winning the first unanimous Cy Young Award in Cubs history.

Did you know that Rick Sutcliffe also won an ERA Championship (1982), he was a three time All-Star ( 1983 , 1987 , 1989 ), he was the only player to win a Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year once from each league (1987, 1992), and one of his stolen bases was a steal of home?
