Tyler Thornburg Stats

Tyler Thornburg was born on Thursday, September 29, 1988, in Houston, Texas. Thornburg was 23 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 19, 2012, with the Milwaukee Brewers. His biographical data, year-by-year hitting stats, fielding stats, pitching stats (where applicable), career totals, uniform numbers, salary data and miscellaneous items-of-interest are presented by Baseball Almanac on this comprehensive Tyler Thornburg baseball stats page.

"For a guy who was supposed to be pitching in the Class AA all-star game Tuesday night, Thornburg betrayed no sense of fear in the stifling heat. More than not, his fastball matched the first-pitch temperature of 94. Physically, he puts you to mind of Tim Lincecum , but with a barbershop allowance. Thornburg was all of 160 pounds coming out of an Atlanta-area high school. He wasn't much bigger when he pitched at Charleston Southern. A scout once told his father that big-league teams usually don't roll the dice with small-framed pitchers. Maybe Thornburg will make the Brewers glad they did. A couple of years ago, when Thornburg began turning heads, the Brewers' minor-league pitching coordinator told an Atlanta newspaper that Thornburg has a little bit of Lincecum and Roy Oswalt in him. The Brewers can only hope." - Columnist Michael Hunt on the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel (06/19/2012, 'Thornburg's debut a needed delivery', Source )
