In 1901 , the American League came into existence. Jimmy Williams was the first player to ever lead the league in triples, finishing with twenty-one (tied with Bill Keister ). A year later, Williams led again, the first American League player to lead the Junior Circuit in back-to-back seasons! [ Year by Year Leaders for Triples ]
