"I'm not trying to be cocky, but I set such a high standard for myself. I'm not happy when I pitch seven innings and give up two runs and get a win." - Barry Zito in ESPN: The Magazine (Volume 6, Number 4, 02/05/2003, Tim Keown, Perfect Pitch , Source ) [ Barry Zito Quotes ]

Did you know that only eighteen pitchers in Major League Baseball history have earned a win against all thirty Major League teams? Sportswriter AJ Cassavell once wrote, " Beating one Major League team figures to be difficult enough for a starting pitcher. Beating all 30 of them, however, is nothing short of pitching history ." We agree and are pleased to present the I've Beaten Every Major League Team "club" that includes these 18 twirlers: Kevin Brown , A.J. Burnett , Bartolo Colon , Dan Haren , Tim Hudson , Randy Johnson , John Lackey , Al Leiter (who started the "club"), Kyle Lohse , Derek Lowe , Jamie Moyer , Terry Mulholland , Vicente Padilla , Max Scherzer , Curt Schilling , Javier Vazquez , Woody Williams and Barry Zito .

The Big Three : A pitching rotation, one of the best in baseball history, with the Oakland Athletics ( 2000 , 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 ) that featured Tim Hudson , Mark Mulder and Barry Zito - the latter being the only ace from "The Big Three" with a Cy Young Award

Barry Zito (1,098 strikeouts in Oakland ) is one of only two twirlers with 1,000+ strikeouts in an OAKLAND Athletics (1968-today), uniform, the other being Vida Blue (1,315 strikeouts in Oakland ). The duo are also the only two pitchers with more than 100 wins in Oakland , but Zito stands alone when it comes to plunked batters, hitting sixty-five as compared to the next closest pitcher, Mark Mulder , with thirty-two.
