Did you know that in the hit by a pitch in an inning record (above); Dock Ellis , Pink Hawley , C.J. Nitkowski , Steve Sparks , Walter Thornton , Javier Vazquez , Jeff Weaver , and Wilbur Wood all hit the batters in consecutive order?

The record for most hit batsmen by the same pitcher during two consecutive games is held by Sam Shaw , who struck nine batters June 13th and 15th of 1893.

On May 1, 1920 , Leon Cadore of the Brooklyn Dodgers and Joe Oeschger of the Boston Braves faced off in a twenty-six inning game and neither pitcher struck a single batter setting the Major League record for longest game without a hit batsman. The same record in the American League belongs to Ted Lyons of the Chicago White Sox who pitched a twenty-one inning game on May 24, 1929 , and did not strike a single batter.
