Innings Pitched Records

Did you know that in 1906 Jack Taylor was taken out of a game, but not before he had pitched a National League record one-thousand seven-hundred twenty-seven innings without being relieved by any pitcher from the bullpen?

Mike Marshall set the Major League record for most innings pitched during a season (1974) by a relief pitcher when he appeared in two-hundred eight innings with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Year-by-year innings pitched leaders are also on Baseball Almanac and the pitcher who has led either league with the fewest amount of innings pitched is David Wells of the Toronto Blue Jays who had two-hundred thirty-one complete innings pitched during the 1999 season (the National League leader is Livan Hernandez who piched in two-hundred thirty-three innings for the Montreal Expos in 2003).
