Baseball Almanac Top Quote

"It wasn't as dramatic as Pete Rose's game-winning collision with Ray Fosse in the 1970 Classic and not as pivotal as the 1983 game when Fred Lynn hit the only grand slam in the history of the All-Star Game . Even so, Torii Hunter's home run-robbing catch of Barry Bonds' drive in the first inning of the 73rd All-Star Game Tuesday night was one for the ages. 'I'll be able to tell my grandkids I robbed a Hall of Famer,' Hunter said. 'To me, that's No. 1. That's the best catch I've had because of where it happened. I grew up in Arkansas and the All-Star Game is one everybody got to watch on TV. To make a catch against a Hall of Famer on national TV, this is one I'll always remember.'" - By Jim Molony on MLB.com (07/10/2002, 'Hunter robs Bonds on amazing play', Source )

Did you know that Torii Hunter is one of only four players to have hit his 300th career home run in a road game against the team for which he made his Major League debut? The other three were: Babe Ruth (1925 at Boston), Dave Kingman (1982 at San Francisco), and Richie Sexson (2008 at Cleveland).

When Torii Hunter won his seventh Gold Glove Award (2001-2007 / all consecutively), he broke the franchise record for most Golden Gloves by a Minnesota Twins outfielder, held previously by Hall of Fame Kirby Puckett . Hunter finished his career with nine total, two with the Angels , and only three AL outfielders have won more. Do you know who they are? [ Answer 1 | Answer 2 | Answer 3 ]
